What is Botox ?

Botox is actually the trade name for a substance injected into the skin which is known to inhibit muscle movement and that can prevent wrinkles from developing or worsening.

What does Botox to your face and how does it work?

Botox blocks the nerve that cause muscles to contract and wrinkle the skin above it.The relaxed muscles will turn the appearance of lines into a smoother relaxing look, leaving your skin then wrinkle free. Botox combined with fillers will give you the satisfying result you wish for.

How long does Botox last?

Botox freezes muscle movement by blocking neuro-transmitters and this effect lasts for 4-6 months – this means you will need top-ups a few times a year if you wish to maintain your line-free look.

Once you’ve had Botox injected, the effects on the muscles usually become apparent within a few hours, with the main effects appearing after about a week.

What are the risks?

Botox is a relatively safe treatment, but it should always be undertaken by a qualified medical professional to ensure that you are getting the correct amount in the right area. At the Right Nose Clinic you are in the right hands.

Are there any side-effects to Botox?
  • If carried out correctly, side effects are generally minimal – and some may not experience any at all.
  • However, occasionally some light bruising or redness around the area of injection might occur, although this shouldn’t last long. Many patients are able to undergo Botox during their lunch break and go back to work ,without anyone noticing it.

What happens if I stop my Botox top ups?

Your lines will come back. If you decide to discontinue with your Botox injections, the muscles in your chosen treated area will begin to function normally again and the ageing process will too.

After treatment the Botulinum toxin treatment effects take about 1–2 weeks to fully develop and last approximately 2.5–4 months.

Botulinum combined with fillers

Combining fillers with botulinum toxins is a common practice new for rejuvenation of the face. Since the hyperactive or hypertonic muscles play a prominent role in producing wrinkles, we advise you to have your muscles relax first with the botulinum toxin, and later use a fillers- after 2 weeks.

Fillers

Injectable fillers can give you a more youthful look for a fraction of what a traditional facelift cost.

Know how the skin ages

Fillers are commonly used as anti-ageing treatment option. The subcutaneous fat on our face loses its volume during years or after a severe diet. They are localized in dedicated compartments and correction of the face means refilling these individual fat compartments.

Know the fillers

There are different types of fillers on the market and based on localization of injection site and predicted outcome the fillers should be selected accordingly. For volumizing or augmentation we use denser fillers like Voluma or Volift Juvederm from Allergan and for superficial defects, lighter molecules like Volbella. Several other fillers are also provided.

Here is a breakdown of available wrinkle fillers. It includes their basic ingredients, how they work, their pros and cons, and the best areas for treatment. Dr Levente will help you choose the right one for you.

Hyaluronic Acid Wrinkle Fillers

The most popular category of wrinkle fillers is hyaluronic acid. Each type works in a slightly different way with varying results.

Hyaluronic acid wrinkle fillers include:

  • Belotero Balance
  • HylaForm
  • Juvederm Voluma XC
  • Juvederm XC
  • Juvederm Ultra XC
  • Juvederm Volbella XC
  • Prevelle Silk
  • Restylane
  • Restylane-L
  • Restylane-Lift
  • Restylane Silk
  • Restylane Refyne
  • Restylane Defyne

Synthetic Wrinkle Fillers

This smaller category of wrinkle fillers includes lab-made substances that are not related to anything found naturally in the skin.

Collagen Wrinkle Fillers

Scientists made the first wrinkle fillers from a purified form of collagen extracted mostly from cows. Although it worked well and offered a natural-looking fill, the results didn’t last long. Most collagen injections began to break down as early as 1 month after treatment. Because these wrinkle fillers were made from an animal source, they also had a higher rate of allergic reaction and required allergy testing beforehand.

New ways of processing the collagen have helped lower the risks. Plus, new forms of synthetic collagens are making these injections safer and more useful to a wider range of patients. Although the results don’t last as long as other wrinkle fillers, many believe the results are more natural looking.

Synthetic Wrinkle Fillers

Are rare but can include redness, swelling, and bruising at the injection site. The filler may also show up under the skin as tiny bumps. This is a problem that often improves over time.

Dr Levente will discuss with you all options, so you can choose what is best for you.
